The story we are talking about in our series, “The Story of Everything” begins with God and it continues when God made Adam. Adam choose to sin and that separated him from God. And the most important thing to God was to be close to Adam. So what does that mean for us? Well, the same sin that separated Adam from God is the same sin that separated us from God too.
With sin in the way, it’s impossible for us to be close to God. In fact, sin keeps us from being a part of God’s family. But here’s the great news, God had a plan to fix this problem called sin. He knew that in order to beat sin, you’d have to first beat death!! And this is where the “Story of Everything” comes in.
Our series memory verse is “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” –John 3:16
Each week, through this series, Club 252ers will learn the following…
Week 1 – Big Answer: Jesus Fixed The Mess I Made… Ever rip, tear or permanently stain one of your favorite shirts? You can try to fix it by putting a patch on it or working really hard to get the stain out but no matter how hard you try, it’s still a mess. That’s what happened to our spirits the first time we sinned. But Jesus fixed our mess. God sent His only Son, Jesus, to save us. Jesus Fixed The Mess I Made!
Week 2 – Big Answer: Jesus Took My Place… Most everyone loves candy because of the sugar. It’s sooooo sweet and tastes good, doesn’t it? Well, sin is like candy. Sin can be fun and taste good for a little while but sin has a price – it costs something. There is a price to sin and someone has to pay that price. Jesus was perfect and the great news is that Jesus paid for our sin. But, not only did he pay for our sin, he didn’t stop there. On the third day, he rose from the dead and came back to life and when he did that, he beat death for everyone!! Jesus took my place.
Week 3 – Big Answer: Jesus Makes Me New… God sent His only son, Jesus, to the world. Jesus lived a perfect life. He never sinned. But one night the Roman soldiers took Jesus and put him on trial. Even though Jesus had never done anything wrong, they found Him guilty and sentenced Him to death by crucifixion. They beat him, whipped him and then nailed Him to a cross. Jesus took the sin of the whole world on Himself. After hours of excruciating pain on the cross, Jesus died. It looked like it was over but it wasn’t because Jesus rose from the dead. Because Jesus beat death, we have a choice to make and when we choose Jesus, we are made new. Jesus made it possible to have a new heart and sprit. Because He did that, we now get to be a part of God’s family! Jesus Makes Me New.
Week 4 – Big Answer: Jesus Protects Me… When we make the choice to ask Jesus into our hearts, we get a brand new heart and spirit. We also get someone who protects us. Life is a journey and on this journey, things can come our way that can be harmful to us. Psalm 91:9-10 says, “If you say, “The Lord is my refuse,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.” (Kids NIV Adventure Bible). When we choose to follow Jesus, He protects us. We are on a journey to do what Jesus has asked us to do, to go where he asks us to go – to live a good life. Storms may come up, but Jesus is with us. Jesus Protects Me.
Week 5 – Big Answer: I Can Trust Jesus No Matter What… We all build our lives on something. We build on what we TRUST the most. God’s entire plan to save the world rested on one man. God trusted Jesus with everything, and Jesus didn’t fail. We can choose to trust in our feelings, but they come and go or we can choose to trust in what God’s Word says. God’s Word is solid like a rock. Jesus didn’t fail His Father and He won’t fail us! I Can Trust Jesus No Matter What.
Week 6 – Big Answer: I Have Decided To Follow Jesus… Jesus has good things for us, a good life, but it’s up to us to FOLLOW Him. We all have a choice to make. We can choose to keep sinning, keep doing the way we have always done things or we can make a decision to follow Jesus. Following Jesus makes us better and following Jesus makes us better at life. But we have to decide. I Have Decided To Follow Jesus.
